Open Shelf Codex
Copyright & Takedown Policy
Last updated 2026-10-04
§ 1 Scope of this record
This page sets out the copyright and takedown policy of Open Shelf Codex, a catalogue of serial fiction. The site respects intellectual property and maintains this procedure so that rights holders may request the removal of material from the catalogue.
§ 2 Material that may be removed
A request may concern any of the following entries on Open Shelf Codex: a book page (the catalogue record itself), the preview chapters (no more than the opening three chapters), or the cover image.
§ 3 Required elements of a notice
A valid notice should be sent to the contact address given in § 6 and should contain all of the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted work said to have been used without authorisation.
- The exact URL or URLs on this site where the material is located, sufficient to locate it in the catalogue.
- Contact details of the complainant, so that the site may reply.
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the rights owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and that the sender is the rights owner or is authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
- A physical or electronic signature of the complainant.
§ 4 Review and action
On receipt of a notice, Open Shelf Codex reviews the record and, where the notice is valid, removes or disables access to the identified material promptly. The catalogue entry is updated accordingly.
§ 5 Counter-notice
If material has been removed by mistake or misidentification, a counter-notice may be sent to the same address. It should contain the same elements as a notice — identification of the material, the URL concerned, contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement of accuracy and authority, and a signature — together with the reasons why the removal was in error.
§ 6 Contact for notices
Notices and counter-notices should be sent by email to the address below. This is the only channel by which Open Shelf Codex accepts such correspondence.
Email: contact@connectallschools.org
§ 7 Repeat and abusive notices
Notices that are repetitive, manifestly unfounded or otherwise abusive may be disregarded. This policy is applied in good faith and may be revised as the catalogue develops.
