Privacy Policy

§ 1 Scope of these notes
These notes describe how Open Shelf Codex handles information when you visit the catalogue at connectallschools.org. They apply to this site only. The official app and any other service you reach from here have their own separate policies, and those apply once you leave this site.
§ 2 No accounts, no sign-up
Open Shelf Codex does not require or offer accounts. You do not register, log in, or give us a name, email address, or password to read the opening chapters on the site.
§ 3 Settings and shelf kept in your browser
Your reading settings (text size, line spacing, and theme) and the list of books you have opened — sometimes called your shelf or reading progress — are stored only in your own browser using local storage. They are not sent to our server. Clearing your browser data removes them. Copying a reader code also happens locally in your browser.
§ 4 Server records kept for operation and security
Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs: IP address, browser or user agent, pages requested, referring page, and time of request. These records support the running of the site and its security, and we keep them for a limited period, after which they are removed.
§ 5 Aggregate visit statistics
We compile aggregated, non-identifying visit statistics. These figures tell us how many visits a page receives and similar counts; they do not identify individual visitors.
§ 6 Clicks through to the official app
When you click through to the official app, we record the click in aggregate — country and device type — to learn which books are useful to readers. This record does not identify you, and the official app's own privacy policy applies after you leave this site.
§ 7 No advertising profiles, no sale of personal data
We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal data.
§ 8 Children
Open Shelf Codex is not directed at children under 13, or under the local age of digital consent where that age is higher.
§ 9 Requests about your data
You may ask for access to, or deletion of, data linked to you. Write to us by email and we will respond as promptly as we can.
