I Can Hear Your Lies Now, Alpha

Five years had passed since the Moon cursed me with silence, stripping away my wolf’s heightened hearing. Tonight, the gift returned. The first heartbeat I wanted to share it with was Alaric’s, Alpha of the Silverfang Pack, my mate, my anchor, the one who had convinced me love still lived in the ashes of war.

But before I could speak, the truth came to me, carried by voices I was never meant to hear.

“Even now, I still love Nyra,” Alpha Alaric confessed, his tone dripping with regret. “I’m thinking of giving her Silverfang Holdings, the pack’s empire.”

His Beta chuckled. “If your mate learns you only claimed her to shield her from Ronan and keep Nyra safe, it will crush her.”

Alpha Alaric’s words struck like claws through flesh. “I’m not worried. She’s deaf. She can’t hear us.”

My world shattered. My wolf howled inside me, claws unsheathing, fury sparking through my veins like lightning. Five years of devotion, of marking and binding, had all been a lie, a cage built for Nyra, my sister’s happiness, not mine.

What was the point of living in chains forged from betrayal?

There was none. I would vanish. And if he ever came for me, I would not be prey. I would be the storm.
