Our fifth wedding anniversary was supposed to be a celebration. But instead, I was kidnapped on my way to dinner.

The kidnappers forced me to call my husband, and a moaning girl answered. By the time Nathan tried to save me, it was already too late, they had torn my baby apart.

What made it worse was overhearing him: "Make sure you pay the kidnappers. Let them go, and make sure they never come back to tell anyone I was the reason for the kidnapping, the loss of the baby, and her being barren. I only wanted a child with Carrie. Now that she’s back, I’ll take care of her."

Carrie—my half-sister. Five years ago, she ran away on the day of their wedding, claiming she wasn’t ready. To save our father’s reputation, I stepped in. I married Nathan, hoping that with time, he would learn to love me again.

But I was wrong. Everything was a lie especially when I discovered that Carrie had his child.

That was the last straw.
