That Night in the Elevator, I Stopped Loving Him

My husband's best friend slept in my bed. She wore my clothes. She got my promotion.

While I was trapped inside an elevator for an entire night, claustrophobic and suffocating, they watched me on the security monitor and laughed at my panic. He kept the doors closed on purpose.

When I was finally rescued, she walked up to me and said, "Wow, Grant really went to a lot of trouble to help you conquer your fear."

I didn't cry. I didn't confront him.

I just found the voice recording on his laptop, filed the divorce, and took everything he used to control me.

He thought I was broken.

That night, I stopped waiting.
