The Alpha's Mistake

It was the night of the full moon, and my mating ceremony had finally arrived. I stood in the altar, prepared to meet my groom and my Alpha, Trent Ford.

But as the hours ticked by, that joy turned to dread. I called Alpha through the mind-link but it was silent. Some of the guests from the pack and the neighboring packs began whispering, the others left. I became a fool in front of them.

My mother had always been fragile, especially with her heart's curse for being mateless. Despite exhaustion, she had always wanted to see me start a new life with the man I loved. But when Trent didn't show up, it was too much for her. She died that very night, leaving me completely shattered.

As if the day hadn’t been cruel enough, I stumbled across something that nearly broke me. Trent’s first love, Winona Lei, had posted something on social media. The words stung like silver and Trent’s replied to my confrontation pierced through my wolf, who's in agony.

[We can get married any day but she can’t live without me.]

The betrayal was too much. I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t keep pretending that this was something I could forgive or forget.

I left my last message through the mind-link. [Trent, let's take a break.]

With that, I blocked him, severing the last tie between us.
