The Don Proposed to Me With His Ex-Wife’s Ring

For three years, Evelyn has been the one who apologises first. Her godfather fiancé, Daniel, threatens to break up whenever they fight, and she always crawls back. Then she finds a round-trip ticket to New York on his phone — and learns it is one of many, every month since his divorce, all to visit his ex-wife, Jessica.

When she finally agrees to the breakup, Daniel does not believe her. He signs, cold and careless, certain she will come running back as she always has. She moves out, returns the ring he gave her, and tells him they are finished. He only laughs, sure she cannot bear to leave.

But the ring is not hers to keep, and the woman waiting inside the house is not her. Evelyn has stopped being the one who bends.
