Biased Parents, Ten Years Lie

On New Year's Eve, Finn tags his parents in the family chat—parents who supposedly died ten years ago. Their replies reveal the truth: the car crash was staged, a punishment for Elias, who once knocked Finn down the stairs and left him in a wheelchair. Elias has spent a decade paying their debts, funding Finn's schooling and sending Finn every spare coin, while their parents watched from hiding.

But Elias never sees the messages. He has died at his desk after working over fifty hours straight. When a hospital calls about his cerebral hemorrhage, his mother dismisses it as a trick and blocks the number, and the family settles down to dinner.

Only Grandma Rose, who has helped Elias all these years, comes looking for him in the cold—and finds the parents she buried still alive, guarding the son they chose.
