Injured and Betrayed: My Husband’s Hospital Affair

After a late-night car accident while rushing her feverish son Liam to the hospital, a woman drifts in and out of consciousness and overhears her husband Lucas speaking tenderly to another woman, Susan. Through the haze she grasps that Lucas blames her for the accident and the child's illness, calling her an irresponsible mother, while Susan murmurs gentle excuses for her. When she finally opens her eyes, she sees Lucas and Susan gathered around Liam's bed like a family, and she understands she is the outsider.

Susan is the ex-girlfriend of Zach, and Lucas has been protecting her, even blaming his wife for Susan's depression. For a month husband and wife have not spoken; now the silent war erupts. Only Liam, small and feverish, defends her, saying his mother loves him very much. As Lucas half-carries Susan away, the wife's last hope shatters and darkness closes over her.

When she wakes again, Liam sleeps beside her bed, and she recalls that he is not her biological child: unable to conceive, she once offered Lucas a divorce.
