Lies Like Foam, Love in the Deep

Ariel Davies believed she had found safety with Harrison Blackwood, the sworn enemy who proposed after her adopted sister Serena was imprisoned for leaving Ariel's brother Ethan in a vegetative state. For five years Harrison played the devoted husband, urging Ariel to bear a child, while she endured herbal medicine and acupuncture to conceive.

Then Ariel overhears Harrison and Ethan, who was never truly comatose, revealing the truth: the accident, the conviction and the marriage were all staged so she would carry a child for Serena, who cannot conceive. Harrison's tenderness was a performance for his real wife, and he has already considered that women sometimes die in the delivery room.

With a pregnancy diagnosis in hand and a plane ticket booked, Ariel must decide how to end a marriage that never legally existed.
