My Perfect Eyes, My Dead Classmate

In her past life, Clara accepted a library seat saved by Ethan, a classmate who had never spoken to her. Day by day, her vision failed, and three days before her MCATs she went blind, then died of a brain hemorrhage. Only after death did she learn the truth: a Soul-Siphoning Sigil under the chair had drained her eyes and life into Ethan's sister Lily, whose terminal retinoblastoma vanished. Now Clara has woken on the very first day Ethan smiled and pointed to that seat.

She refuses it, but Ethan follows, calling her by name though they have never spoken. He claims she stands out, yet he knows no one else in class. Clara finds the sigil under the chair—a warm, pulsing membrane—and photographs it. At St. Jude's, Lily, blind and gauze-wrapped, asks about Clara's eyes and says Ethan has a way to save her.

Clara must protect her sight from a brother and sister who already know how this ends.
