She Was The Bride Who Said No And Married Other Don That Night

For seven years Nora Whitfield has stood at Dominic Sterling's right hand, climbing from admin to Chief of Staff in his Newport Family's firm, turning dirty money clean. She believed she had earned her seat at his table. Then Marissa Belrose arrived with a title and took the place Nora had bled for.

On her wedding day, the cars idle for three hours while Marissa refuses to leave the seat beside Dominic that was meant for Nora. Dominic will not move her. He tells Nora to get in or walk. Her father, who rode ten miles to flag the convoy down, stands silent in the driveway as the guests slip away. Marissa posts from the car; Dominic likes it. Then Marissa strokes her stomach and speaks of a baby.

Nora drops her veil on the pavement and refuses the marriage. Dominic warns that a woman the Sterlings threw away has nowhere to go. But Nora has seen the reservation at the Four Seasons Boston, booked for the day after the wedding.
