The Day I Walked Away From the Man Who Ruined Me

I was in a hospital bed, still weak from a miscarriage, when I saw images of my husband, Marcus, kissing another woman. I told myself I was imagining things—until I went home and saw him with my own eyes, in our house, tangled in bed with Cassie, the sister of his best friend.

“Ssh, Marcus… be gentle,” Cassie giggled while I stood hidden in the shadows. “What about Nora?”

“She won’t wake up,” Marcus replied calmly. “I already gave her her medicine. She’s out.”

At first, I thought the infidelity was the worst of it. I was wrong.

“Maybe that medicine caused the miscarriage,” Cassie said.

“Who cares?” Marcus laughed coldly. “I never wanted the baby anyway. It was annoying.”

My blood turned cold. The man who once swore he worshipped me had been destroying me all along. He hadn’t just cheated—he had poisoned me, and he had killed our child because my love was “annoying” to him.

Then he humiliated me further by buying the sapphire necklace I had always wanted for his mistress, then left me alone at our anniversary dinner to comfort her.
