The Ignore Daughter Have True Honor

At eighteen, Hazel was the invisible one: her parents handed her $50 for two weeks of groceries while they took Serena and Elliot through Europe, and her old friends Ethan and Melanie treated her as the one who never measured up. Ten years later, the family group chat still assumes she is scraping by in Queens, and Serena's wedding into the Ashfords is the occasion for another round of pity and small change.

What none of them know is that Hazel is Dr. Whitmore, whose patent is the key to Ashford Industries' stalled program, and that Sterling Ashford has spent three months asking for thirty minutes of her time. She flies to Newport, where the condescension continues over dinner and her mother explains that property is divided by GPA, not by children.

Hazel has never mentioned her income to any of them. The weekend has only just begun.
