The Price of a Birthday: A Five-Year Hell

On her birthday, after she storms out in anger, a young woman's brother Liam vanishes while searching for her; a bloodstained note says he was kidnapped and murdered. Refusing to believe it, she spends five years in the dark world of human trafficking, enduring beatings and torture, scouring red-light districts and remote mountain villages to rescue victims, and losing a hand and a kidney along the way.

At her limit, she finds Liam alive, celebrating the birthday of their adopted sister Chloe. The family calls her five years of hell an educational method, and Liam says he pulled strings so she would learn her lesson. When Chloe accuses her of arranging a kidnapping, the family turns on her, demanding she sign over her shares and kneel in apology.

As a System Traveler, she still has one wish left. She asks that Liam and Chloe's lie become reality, then tears off her own arm and leg before them.
