When My Countdown Reached Zero

Chloe has spent two years fighting terminal cancer, kept going by the devotion of her boyfriend Ethan, who quit his job to sit through chemo with her, read to her through sleepless nights and shaved his own head to make her smile. Then he tells her he has fallen for Jessica, the caregiver he hired, and that he owes it to her to take her on a ten-day road trip. Chloe says only that she understands.

She does not tell him about the countdown now hovering over her head: seven days left. Alone with her new caregiver Hailey, she learns the trip began hours earlier than he claimed, and that Ethan had been at Jessica's side for surgery months before. A matching bracelet, a dish of cauliflower, and a journal left behind piece together a love that has already moved on.

What is left for a dying woman who has just discovered she was a burden all along?
