He Missed 17 Calls, Now He Misses Me

Three days before her due date, Rowan Bishop's husband James flies his first love Sera Voss to Alaska to see the northern lights. When Rowan's water breaks and she calls him seventeen times, Sera answers laughing, and James dismisses her as faking contractions. Alone, Rowan takes an Uber to the hospital, where her baby dies. Sera splices the call into her aurora vlog, and James comments that Rowan is always like this.

As strangers condemn Sera online, James's assistant asks Rowan to post that the mockery was a joke between friends. James calls, promising to take her to her checkup, but he remembers only her old comforts, not her loss. At Sutton Pages, the children's foundation built with her trust, Sera demands Rowan clear her image or James will transfer the foundation to her.

Rowan freezes her trust and signs away her own name. James retaliates by freezing their joint accounts. The foundation's sign still glows outside.
