The Wedding Scammer

A woman scrolling through a social forum finds a post from a man who admits he has HIV and is hiding it from his fiancée. His description of her—a senior accountant from a well-off family who refuses intimacy before marriage—sounds disturbingly like her own life. She is Laura Jefferson, a senior accountant, and her boyfriend Jake Allen took her to meet his parents only days ago.

When Jake suddenly proposes marriage and grows agitated at her suggestion of a routine premarital health screening, her unease deepens. He deflects, ends the call abruptly, and goes silent. That night she sees a second post from the same user, describing a small wedding and a family willing to help with costs—details that match her own conversations.

As the posts and her relationship converge, Laura must decide whether the man she loves is the stranger confessing online.
