The Price of His Lies

When Chloe becomes pregnant, Julian drops to his knees and begs her to abort, claiming he is drowning in a hundred thousand dollars of debt. Unable to let the baby go, she secretly visits an underground clinic, where an accident costs her the child and any chance of motherhood. Julian never blames her, and for five years she works eight jobs a day to help him pay off what she believes he owes.

Then a cleaning shift at a luxury estate shatters everything. Through the doors she hears guests toasting Mr. Vance, who has spent four million dollars renting the estate for his son's fifth birthday. The voice is Julian's. She sees him in a tailored suit, a signet ring on his finger, holding a little boy who looks just like him. In front of her, he has played a penniless nobody.

Back in their rundown apartment, Julian returns in a dirty tank top and patches her broken shoes with superglue. The next morning she follows him to a five-star hotel, where a friend urges him to ditch the broke girl before Elena returns from abroad. Julian agrees to lay his cards on the table in a few days.
