Vanished Into the Crowd

Five months pregnant, Chloe is knocked down by an Uber driver. At the hospital, the driver sobs a familiar name into the phone: Daniel. The man who rushes into the ward is her husband, who claimed to be away on business. Yet he walks past Chloe to the injured girl, Scarlett, his legendary first love, and carries her back to bed.

As Scarlett weeps about rent and exhaustion, Daniel shields her, soothes her, and agrees to cook the seafood soup she has missed for years. Chloe watches the man who once pulled her from the sea and promised to protect her choose someone else, while his gentle voice on the phone tells her the case is not yet wrapped up.

With a tiny life still inside her and fifty-four missed calls on her screen, Chloe must decide whether to give him, and them, one last chance.
