The Scent of Her Soliloquy

Eve is the overlooked younger daughter of the Vance family. Her sister Aurora is the flawless heir, praised by their father Charles Vance, while Eve is dismissed as useless, spending her days blending scents in the attic greenhouse. At a family dinner, Aurora's fiancé Julian Sterling notices Eve's quiet talent, praising the perfume she calls Valley Rain and later sending her a set of artisan perfumery instruments and rare botanical absolutes, including Grasse May Rose absolute, with a note calling her a future master perfumer.

Aurora mocks the gift as a toy chemistry set and warns Eve to know her place. Yet Julian's recognition becomes the only light in Eve's gray world. She devotes herself to perfumery, her allergy symptoms fading as she sheds the bangs she once hid behind. In a family that measures worth in power and profit, Eve begins to wonder whether the one person who truly sees her can change what she is allowed to become.
